What Do I need? What Do I want?

What will make this easy?

As you embark upon your Keto journey, you quickly notice that the language and the cooking styles are a bit different.  What will help you on this journey.  What do you actually need to make your life easier?  First and foremost, you need to be educated on what will be happening in your body as you transition from sugar fueling to fat fueling.  I’m listing my favorite reads.  These are available from Amazon, and quickly delivered to your doorstep, or you can get them on Audible and listen to an audio book in the car.  I’ve done both, (several times).  Education is key.  If you know the why of things, you’ll be able to easily figure out the whats.

Education is key.  These are the books that I’ve read, and/or was recommended by people I’ve worked with and trust.

Supplements?

Do I need them?  When do I need them?  Which ones?

With all my reading, I’ve come to the conclusion that I really don’t need much in the way of supplementation, as long as I’m eating correctly.

There is, however, a need to feed your electrolytes as your body is converting to fat fueling.  The keto flu?  What causes that?  You can read about that by just a google search, but bottom line, while your body changes, your electrolytes may become unstable.

So while the system heals, you need to feed your potassium, magnesium and salt.  I identify some brands I trust here.  I also use these faithfully when I do extended fasting.

Even though fat adapted, I love Epsom salt baths for relaxation (bringing down the cortisol) and an extra dose of Magnesium.
